The Muses: An Update
Hi everyone! Long time, no update- so here you go!
Behind the scenes of the last few weeks, whilst there has been no updates on here, I have been working hard on plans for the first project, The Muses.
I have been doing research for the design of the sessions, collaborating with local artists to plan the art side of things and beginning to put together funding applications to the Arts Council England National Lottery Grant as well as a few others. I also (as of today) started a crowdfunding profile.
I have created a timeline and a financial plan for the running of the programme and finally feel like it’s coming together!
The local artist who has agreed to be part of The Muses team is Anna Benari, a local artist and exhibition curator to the Cambridge area. She has vast experience in a variety of art mediums and has lots of ideas she is bringing to the table. It is wonderful to be working with someone so passionate about the arts and what it can do for people.
I mentioned above that I have set up a crowdfunding page, which I will link at the end. But I would also like to explain why.
Each of the funds and grants I am applying for ask for the person applying to have 10% of the funds sourced from elsewhere. I myself have pledged to contribute 4% from my income, but I ask the general public, the friends to the arts and mental health services to help fund the remaining 6%.
I know not everyone is in the position to be able to donate. The cost of living is only increasing and wages are not increasing at a matching rate. So I completely understand if you cannot afford to contribute. But if you would like to contribute in other ways, I currently also have a survey open which is collecting data from the general public to inform how the programme should be designed. I will also leave this linked below for anyone to complete should they have a spare 5 minutes. You can also share the donation page or the survey page. Or if you have any ideas you would like to share, please feel free to use the contact form on my website to let me know or ask how to get involved! The more help I get the better. I want this to be the best project I can make it, and I need your help to do so.
I should be able to confirm a timeline and an opening date for The Muses, once we have the funding all in place. So keep an eye out for more information. But in the meantime, I will keep updating on other areas of my work. If you would like me to talk about anything on here, or learn more about music therapy, community music or anything music related, let me know! I could ramble forever given the chance!
Sending all the love
