Welcome To My Website!

Just a little note to say, welcome to this new space. I will be using this website to keep updates on all things music. This is also a good place to contact me or look for information on my teaching or private therapeutic music work.

So a little about me…

I am originally from Kent and lived there my whole childhood. I began singing in church and started having singing lessons when I was nine years old. I then started to write my own music from around the age of 13 and began performing them at open mic nights and local musicians concerts from the age of 16. At this age, I also began attending Trinity Laban Conservatoire for Music for their junior programme every weekend. Here I trained in classical music and worked on my ensemble skills as well as completing graded examinations.

I moved to York for my undergraduate degree in 2017. I attained my BA Music degree in the summer of 2020 with a 2.1
During my time here at the University of York I was able to work with a student from the Sound Production degree course to record and produce some of my own music. Within the space of three years we were able to release 2 EPs and several singles onto music streaming platforms.
As a result of this, some of my songs were played on BBC Introducing North Yorkshire and I was invited into the studios to do a live set for them and chat about my music.
Alongside my degree and recording music at York, I was part of the Music Education Group (MEG) which was a student lead organisation that provided live music, music workshops and courses to the community. I was the ‘Hospital’s Representative’. This role involved co-ordinating volunteers each week and providing music to the patients in the York Hospital. The main wards I was performing music in were the dementia wards and the children’s ward. On the children’s ward is where I met a music therapist who worked for Jessie’s Fund. From this, I knew I wanted to pursue a career in music therapy.
My dissertation was focused on how music can support those living with dementia. I was able to run music workshops weekly across 3 care homes in the York area and collect data on memory and mood to support my hypothesis of music being a positive influence on well-being.

From there I moved to Cambridge to begin studying a masters in music therapy. Here I was given two placements. The first was working on a neuro-rehabilitation ward at the Royal Hospital for Neuro-disability. During this time I also undertook the MATADOC training and later went onto study the Neurologic Music Therapy training course. My second placement was working in an NHS setting with Looked After Children in mainstream schools, Early Years Community Centres and in a specific unit for children with Autism Spectrum Condition.
My thesis focused on the well-being of the music therapist and how we can maintain our mental and physical health when working in settings with high levels of trauma. For this, I won the prize for Best Major Project 2022.

I have been a qualified and HCPC registered music therapist since July 2022 and am working full time across two Special Educational Needs Schools in Ely and Littleport. I also have continued my teaching alongside this outside of school hours and am currently in the process of writing my thesis into an article for publication in a music therapy journal.

I live in Cambridge with my partner and two bunny rabbits and I would love to work with more people and do my bit to help!
